There are 2 meetings this week regarding the parks and recreation master plan. The first one is tonight at 6pm at deer park elementary school. The second meeting is tomorrow night at 6pm at Owensboro high school in the old library. Everyone needs to be there to let them know that we need the park you see in the pic.
Some of you may or may not remember a web site called bmx-test.com. It was basically an online database where riders could submit reviews on parts frames, videos, skate parks, and pretty much anything else BMX related. I myself used to consult this site frequently when trying to decide on what parts to buy, and in most cases it really helped alot. Then one day the site went down. I guess it became unpopular or something who really knows? I just recently caught wind of a new site this guy just started up called Crash Test BMX. It follows pretty much the same guidelines as BMX-Test did and seems pretty legit check it out.
Myself and several other riders and skaters attended the city commission meeting that was held in Owensboro tonight at city hall. Besides the fact that 3 kids bikes got stolen while we where there I think the meeting went pretty well. We definatly made an impact on the commission and I think that they are now behind us. They made comments on how well we presented ourselves and got our voice heard without protesting, and they where excited to see so many young people getting involved. The looks on their faces when Mike asked everyone who supported the park to stand up and almost everyone that attended the meeting leaped to their feet was priceless. Though I think its safe to say we can chalk this one up as a victory, the war to get the new skatepark built is far from over. The spark has been made to start the fire now is the time to give it some gas. You have to keep in mind that these are politicians we are dealing with and they cannot be trusted. For all we know they might just be telling us what we want to hear so we will leave the issue alone. We cannot afford to hold anything back now. There are 2 more meetings with the park and recreations commitee next week and a fundraiser at Quality Bike Shop on Friday. $5 gets you into the fundraiser. There will be prizes video showings and other activities. We need as many people at these events as possible. More details on the meetings will be posted as soon as I get them. Please show your support by attending any or all of these events. We need all the help we can get.
EVERYONE who wants a new skatepark in Owensboro needs to attend the next city commission meeting the evening of Tuesday February 17th at 5pm. The city commission meetings are at City Hall which is at the corner of 4th and Allen in downtown Owensboro.
Please pack as many of your friends and family into your vehicle and get down to this meeting. The commissioners are counting on you all to NOT get vocal about our skatepark so that they can sweep the issue under the rug and ignore you. There are some critical deadlines about to expire which will set us back - and the city commissioners know it. They want our $90,000 for "downtown development" or other recreational facilities (batting cages). If we don't have the $90,000 then the Tony Hawk Foundation will not give us the $10,000 they are ready to give us. When we applied for the THF grant the city promised that $90,000 was there for our project. Now the city is saying "it might not be there - we have to reapply in April". April will be too late - we have until March 19th to receive the money. But the city has to hold good to it's promises it made on the THF grant application.
Show up to this meeting and voice your opinion that our skate park needs to be built. If you don't want to speak you don't have to. I will be on hand to speak and drive home the main point to the commissioners. The skatepark needs your support. If you don't show up to this meeting you have no room to complain about how bad it sucks here. Please plan ahead, switch work shifts, ask off -- do what ever you have to do to get down to this City Commission meeting on Tuesday February 17th, 5 pm at city hall.
I made another T shirt design today out of boredom again. Click the image to make it larger and again please give some feedback even if you think they suck.
I Made some T Shirt designs tonight since I'm bored as hell. I would like to know what everyone thinks about them. The first one is just a basic logo shirt. The second one features Haggard Ass Drew and Hobo Johnny. If I get enough positive feedback on these I may actually get some made. I will probably be trying to do some stickers as well.
Ahh, the good old days. I remember about an hour after this picture was taken, I did this same thing only I went too fast and had nothing to plant my foot on. Went straight to my side. Nasty pile of suck.
And for the record, the writing on the front of my helmet says "Furburger"
funny, huh?
here we have a bit of Indiana's finest... with a whopping, amazing, bedazzling 4 clips from myself.
I got a new cast put on my wrist. Shit sucks balls. The docs told me 4 weeks and then this shit comes off for another X-Ray. The docs also said that the bone in my wrist that broke was a tough one to heal and that there is a 10% chance that it wont heal, so lets hope for the best. Id say that nobody really cares but I'm bored so suck it.
Here's a little edit I made about a year ago of Zack at the Bowling Green park. Its not anything special just a few clips with no music. The editing kinda sucks but it was my first edit so give me a break oh and sorry again to Zack for spelling your name wrong.
Welcome to the new Murder Squad blog. I've created this blog mainly because I have a broken wrist and I need something to do during my downtime. With that said I also hope that this will be something that I will continue to update as time goes on. Id say that this will be a better way for people to find out whats going on with the Murder Squad. I really hope that everyone enjoys the blog. Don't forget to check the myspace page too. www.myspace.com/murdersquadbmx
