EVERYONE who wants a new skatepark in Owensboro needs to attend the next city commission meeting the evening of Tuesday February 17th at 5pm. The city commission meetings are at City Hall which is at the corner of 4th and Allen in downtown Owensboro.
Please pack as many of your friends and family into your vehicle and get down to this meeting. The commissioners are counting on you all to NOT get vocal about our skatepark so that they can sweep the issue under the rug and ignore you. There are some critical deadlines about to expire which will set us back - and the city commissioners know it. They want our $90,000 for "downtown development" or other recreational facilities (batting cages). If we don't have the $90,000 then the Tony Hawk Foundation will not give us the $10,000 they are ready to give us. When we applied for the THF grant the city promised that $90,000 was there for our project. Now the city is saying "it might not be there - we have to reapply in April". April will be too late - we have until March 19th to receive the money. But the city has to hold good to it's promises it made on the THF grant application.
Show up to this meeting and voice your opinion that our skate park needs to be built. If you don't want to speak you don't have to. I will be on hand to speak and drive home the main point to the commissioners. The skatepark needs your support. If you don't show up to this meeting you have no room to complain about how bad it sucks here. Please plan ahead, switch work shifts, ask off -- do what ever you have to do to get down to this City Commission meeting on Tuesday February 17th, 5 pm at city hall.
Spread the word and get EVERYONE to this meeting!
